Manuscript Title:An UWB Planar Out-of-Phase Power Divider Employing Microstrip-Slot and Parallel Stripline-Microstrip Transitions

Abstract:The design of a planar out-of-phase power divider in microstrip/parallel stripline technology for ultra wideband (UWB) applications is presented. The device employs two substrates with a common ground plane. A coupling between two microstrip lines on the top and bottom substrate layers through a slot in the ground plane, and a suitable transition from two microstrip lines to a parallel stripline are used to achieve an UWB operation. The simulated and measured results of the proposed divider show low insertion losses, good return loss at the three ports, fine isolation and the required 180º phase difference for signals emerging from the two output ports across the band 3.1 to 10.6GHz.

Abstract:Abstract-The finite difference method in time domain(FDTD) method is applied to simulate the planar spiral Inductor, the full wave analysis explain the current crowding effect along the multi-turn trace, which can never be accurately analyzed by analytical solutions. Experimental results validate the FDTD simulation. Micro genetic algorithms(MGA)together with the FDTD are used to design the high quality factor (Q) of the inductor within the limited space, the results show the high efficiency of this method.

Manuscript Title:Determination of Amplitude Distribution over a Large Parabolic Antenna from Its Power Radiation Pattern

Abstract:A technique has been formulated to compute the unknown amplitude distribution over the surface of a large parabolic reflector from the radiation patterns measured in situ. The approach uses a novel Genetic Algorithm to determine the optimal illumination that produces best match with the measured patterns. The relevance of the work lies in the fact that in order to rectify the effects of surface irregularities developed during installation, the first step must be to accurately evaluate the aperture illumination.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a novel design\r\nmethodology to reduce peak overshoots and\r\nringing oscillations in MCM interconnects\r\ncharacterized by a transmission line structure. An\r\nideal transformer is used to transform the load\r\nimpedance to provide damping. The entire\r\nstructure is investigated using transmission or\r\nABCD matrices. Manuscript Title:Non-Linear Surface Waves At a Single Interface of Semimagnetic Semiconductor – Left Handed

Abstract:The nonlinear characteristics of TE surface waves at microwave frequencies in a layered structure of non-linear semimagnetic-semiconductor cover and left-handed material substrate have been investigated. Numerical analysis and derivation were carried out for the dispersion relation in its general form. The power flow has also been studied as a function of wave number for different frequencies and magnetic fields. It is shown that the proposed waveguide structure depends significantly on the operating wave frequency and can be efficiently controlled by varying the frequency.

Manuscript Title:A Novel Adaptive Baseband Digital Predistortion Technique

Abstract:The digital predistortion technique is an\r\neffective approach for suppressing the intermodulation\r\ndistortion (IMD) products of high\r\npower amplifiers (HPA) in modern mobile\r\ncommunication systems. In this paper, a novel\r\nbaseband digital predistortion technique based on\r\nthe complex look-up table (LUT) is presented and\r\nexperimentally verified. The performance of the\r\npower amplifier is improved significantly with this\r\ntechnique. Experimental results show that about 6\r\nto 11dB ACPR reduction could be achieved for\r\ndifferent kinds of cdma2000 or WCDMA signals.

Manuscript Title:Application of Perturbed Linear Resonators

Abstract:This paper presents the application of perturbed linear resonator (PLR) in the design of a band pass filter with extended stop band performance. Perturbed linear resonator was analyzed using piecewise linear transmission line model. An experimental filter having 35% bandwidth has been designed at a center frequency (fo) of 2.4GHz. Experimental results showed that the first spurious frequency has been extended to 4.8fo, which is 1.28 times compared to the conventional two-section stepped impedance resonator (SIR).

Manuscript Title:A New LINC Transceiver’s Architecture for Wireless Radio Systems

Abstract:This paper proposes a new LInear amplification system using Nonlinear Components (LINC) transceiver that utilizes a\r\nmodified LINC architecture. The drawbacks, which are related to the power efficiency loss due to the analog RF signal\r\nrecombination at the LINC output stage, of the conventional LINC transmitter, are avoided by combining the decomposed LINC\r\nsignals digitally at the receiver. Simulation results using a commercial amplifier with a Raleigh fading channel and 802.11a signal\r\ndemonstrated the obvious improvement of the power efficiency. It is improved from 3.9% for regular LINC to 15.5% for the\r\nmodified LINC system. The quality of the signal is not degraded, as the Error Vector Magnitude metric is kept below 2% at the\r\nreceiver, which is much lower than the standard requirements.

Manuscript Title:Slotted Waveguide Circular Arc Array Terminated in a Bio-medium for Hyperthermia

Abstract:A novel and effective hyperthermia applicator utilizing a circular arc phased array of longitudinal slots in narrow wall of rutile-loaded rectangular waveguide is presented and analyzed in this paper. This configuration is mainly intended as a specialized and very effective applicator for hyperthermia treatment of tumor within curved portions of human body such as abdomen, neck,chest etc. The expression for electric field in biomedium due to slotted waveguide arc array is derived utilizing Fresnel-Kirchhoff scalar diffraction field theory. The contour distribution of specific absorption rate (SAR) in x-z, x-y and y-z planes and SAR distribution in y-direction due to the arc array as direct contact applicator are evaluated at 433 MHz. The parameters such as penetration depth, power absorption coefficient, effective transverse field size (TFS), effective longitudinal field size (LFS) are obtained for the arc array.

Manuscript Title:Modal Analysis of a Corrugated Circular Waveguide for Wideband Gyro-Traveling-Wave Tubes

Abstract:The field matching technique was used for the modal analysis of a circular waveguide, which is corrugated to form discs between corrugations. The dispersion relation of the structure has been derived considering all the harmonics of the traveling waves in the corrugation-free region and the stationary waves in the region of corrugation. The results have been validated against that reported earlier and also using HFSS, for azimuthally symmetric modes, with particular reference to the modes TE01, TE02, and TE03. The mode TE01 and the axial periodicity of discs proved to be the most effective in controlling the dispersion characteristics of the structure for wideband performance of a gyro-TWT millimeter-wave amplifier.

Manuscript Title:Improved Expression for Intensity Noise in Subcarrier Multiplexed Fiber Networks

Abstract:The relative intensity noise (RIN) plays an important role in subcarrier multiplexed multimedia over fiber (MOF) networks. The RIN is conventionally considered to be proportional to the square of the mean optical power. Nevertheless, experiments by us and many others have shown that the RIN also increases with the power of the modulating RF signal s(t). In this paper, a mathematical expression for the RIN is derived from fundamental principles that shows the dependency of RIN on modulation index m and modulating multimedia signal power E[s2(t)]. The new expression better explains the excess increment of noise power in MOF systems. The signal to noise ratio is analyzed using the new expression and numerical evaluations are done considering DOCSIS specifications.

Manuscript Title:Numerical and Experimental Analysis of Remotely Pumped Dual-Function EDFA

Abstract:This paper presents a numerical analysis and experimental evaluation of remotely pumped Erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) from the point of view of integrated attenuation and dispersion compensation inside the EDFA. Considering high gain and low noise figure (NF) by very low remote pump power as main design objective, the design process of remotely pumped optimized EDFAs for long haul optical fiber communication system (OFCS) is demonstrated. The effects of pump power, signal power, signal wavelength, EDF length and amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) on the gain and NF of remotely pumped EDFA are analyzed from the numerical simulation of EDFA rate equation model. Robustness and stability of the numerical model are shown by analyzing the output shapes using various design parameters. Finally, the numerical model is validated with the help of experimental results.

Manuscript Title:Absolute Characterization of EUV Radiation Generated By Discharge Produced Plasma (DPP) For Lithography Applications

Abstract:The application of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography in large-scale semiconductor chip manufacturing requires high power EUV radiation sources. The wavelength of the emission should be between 13 and 14 nm according to the 13.4 nm roadmap. To this end, a versatile microwave plasma-based EUV light source type Compact Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (CECRIS) has been recently built at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). In this paper, we present a detailed study of the generation of xenon (Xe) EUV light by the CECRIS using a 1.5 grazing incidence EUV monochromator that has been absolutely calibrated at the advanced Light Source (ALS). For diagnostic purposes, a theoretical study of Xe EUV line emission was performed based on relativistic Hartree-Fock approximation. A major outcome of this work is the absolute calibration of the EUV diagnostic system, which can be used for calibration of other industrial lithography sources.
