It gives me great pleasure to bring out the 3rd issue of the International Journal of Microwave and Optical Technology (IJMOT) for the year 2008. This is an Special Issue devoted to the selected papers presented in the 11th International Symposium on Microwave and Optical Technology (ISMOT-2007) held in Villa Mondragone, Monte Porzio Catone, Rome, Italy from December 17-21, 2007 under the leadership of Professor Franco Giannini and Professor Ernesto Limiti of the University of Rome, Italy. This special issue containing the extended full length papers has been published in two parts. Part I contains the papers on: Future Electronics Frontiers, Microwave Active Device Modelling, Nonlinear Subsystems Analysis, Characterization, and Modelling, Advanced Microwave Devices and Circuits while Part II contains the papers on: Antennas, EM Methods and Applications, Metamaterials and Advanced Optoelectronics.

I am very thankful to Professor Franco Giannini and Professor Ernesto Limiti who were kind enough to accept my invitation to be the Guest Editors for this special issue. After successfully organizing the ISMOT-2007, they both along with the ISMOT-2007 Technical Program Committee have done the difficult task of selecting the best papers for this special issue from large number of papers presented in the conference and getting these papers extended to full-length papers. Finally their hard work has resulted in the final shape of this special issue.
Again, the continued advice, support and encouragement by the Editorial Advisory Board Members, Associate Editors and dedicated reviewers are highly appreciated. They are the backbone of this young journal and without their support we can’t even imagine the publication of any issue.
My special thanks to our web manager Mr. Syam Challa for his continued efforts for improving the IJMOT website and helping in the publication of every issue since last year.
